POP CULTURE

 

 Pop Culture influences on me in many different ways. Pop culture is the present and I need adapt myself to the world that I am living today. Pop culture influenced on me for many reasons; the first one is that I need adapt to the new beliefs, customs, and characteristics, or I would be a person without friends and without a social communication. For example if I don’t speak English I can’t get and take communication with the people who lives in the United States. I can’t do what I want because I can’t tell to other people my opinion. That creates on me a different person that I really am. The second one is that I need to do the things which people do because I want be related with the people who are around me like work and study without a strong relation with my family and my friends. The last one is that pop culture influenced on me because I need adaption with the actual society with this world. For these reasons my cultural identity is affecting because I don’t do the things that I did before in my country. Everything has a constantly change where I need to adapt myself. The thing that I become aware since taking this class is that I don’t need to lose my cultural identity. Of course that now I am related with a new world, but is not an excuse to lose what really I am. Another thing that I become aware is that I need and enjoy everything that I have and I had it. Enjoy, learn, and practice my new and old identity everywhere that I live.

 



CULTURAL IDENTITY

“Ecuador” the middle of de Earth is marvelous, interesting, and beautiful where you can find many unique things that you can enjoy it. My poster represents the most important things that my country has of course not all; first you can see in the middle of the picture the outline of my country with the three colors of the flag and the escudo. Those are the principal things that all the Ecuadorians love. I added two legends, the principal singer in Ecuador and the principal singer in United States (this two singers are dead now) .Two different artists where you can find and appreciate two different cultures and learn many things. These two singers now represent me, at the same time I put my favorite and typical dish in Ecuador. Fritada is a traditional dish which represents all my culture and my identity since many years ago until the actuality. The dish you can enjoy it and love it for the taste because you can’t find the same dish in other country at the world. I miss all these things but now I can enjoy hamburgers I think this special dish is original from this country. This sort of new food is in my life today that I can enjoy. I added pictures of the cities (Chicago and Quito). Where you can appreciate the differences of Ecuador and United States for example in Ecuador you can find things that were build many years ago and now represents our last culture since Spanish people conquered South America in the other hand you can see new technology, the new modern things all that represents our future, this thing represents my new life here in Chicago and where I need get used, the last two things that I added are the most important monuments in Ecuador and United States, in Ecuador the monument “Mitad del Mundo” where you can enjoy the line where is divided the north pole to the south pole and the most important thing in my country in the other hand “Statue of Liberty” who represents the freedom of all the people. All those things represent my old life and my new life, my past and my future where I can find all that I am.

 

 

 

 

READING

The reading that I chose and made me thing in a different way is “Does Sex Still Sell”. This reading talked about how different companies sell the body or other characteristics from many artists to get publicity and get the attention of the people. This impressed on me because people buy and get what really is good. If a good product put publicity without a sex image could be sell it in the same way putting a sex image. The companies don’t need to force artist to sell their body. If the artist is good with his job everyone could want to see his job. The reading talk about artist as “porn stars” I think that is really humiliating for an artist. Artist, actors, and other only do they job and sometimes they need to sell their image and not for that reason the people can say that they are porn star. Is impossible to imagine how people are. We live in a society who thinks only in sex and porn.

 

MUSIC

My favorite song comes from an important artist in Ecuador. The name of the song is “Para Que No Me Olvides” which was created in 1999 with the same name of the album. Is a romantic song who won the gold disc in Ecuador at the same year that had been performed. Today this song is very popular in all South America. My favorite singer is Juan Fernando Velasco one of the most important singers in Ecuador. He created the song “Para Que No Me Olvides” and won the best festival realized in South America “Vina del Mar”. Today Juan has 6 albums and 24 years of career. Today he tries to help poor people in the worst cities in Ecuador.  My favorite type of music is romantic ballad which was created in the 15 century. Ballads come from the word Ballares in French and are composed by refrains and poetry.

Brave Heart

 

If you want to take something you need to lose something. That is the rule in the life. The human being never has or gets all that he wants. He only has what he needs, but when he wants something he fights and cross many obstacles until reaches his goal. But what is the price to find his goal, maybe the price is gives his life.

William a man who only wanted the freedom of others fought and face to the powerful British Empire, but the treason of the people with his same blood would lead to his dead. After his dead, his battles and victories carried to all the scot’s to find their freedom. When Williams was killed he never showed weakness for the British Empire. He died as a real man who fought for his freedom and for his dreams giving his life. William was an example for all the people that nothing in the life is impossible. William Wallace gave all that he had and shared his cunning and strength until obtain what he wanted.

Fight for a dream until the death shows to people that nothing is impossible in this life if you really want and need something. I recommend this movie if you want feel the strength to do something impossible. If you want to see how you could reach what you want; Brave Heart can show you how do it. Response: Like the review I think that "Paranorman" is a good movie to see. The main character in this movie is a boy who can see dead people. This movie represents the old scariest movies that we had seen some day years ago like the movie "The Sixth Sense". Paranorman is a movie who can see all the family and can enjoy it. Even the effects, sound, and animated pictures are perfect to enjoy this movie. If you see this movie you could feel the fear everywhere you are, so is not recommended for people who believe in ghosts and creatures from the other world. Paranorman could be one o the best animated pictures that you could see in all your life.

Is amazing and interesting how all the people who have the same characteristics outside in their bodies are too different inside of them. Every person all over the world has a different taste and likes. I surprised how companies have different problems if they want to export their products to other countries. They need to put different thing in their product if they want to sell it. For example hamburgers in USA are the best for the majority of people, but if someone sells hamburgers in Korea that not could take the same popularity than in the USA because hamburgers don’t have what Koreans like. I surprised how the companies before sell their products they develop a research all about the people where they will be sell their products. Another thing that had surprised me is that every food has a story and become part of us. The food has a connection with us. For example a product created in the USA is selling it in China, it hasn’t the same symbol or connection or identity with the Chinese people.

GLOG

Pop culture is all objects, people, events, and places that we have in our lives. Which are related with all of us, with the society at present and past, it is related with all the things that we use. Popular culture has symbols that can be persons or things called icons. In the glog are presented four images which they represent every part of pop culture. The first one called The Bean of Chicago represents a place where all the people know because is popular and is part of us these days. The second one is a boat which represents the objects. All of us today use a transport to travel for different places without one of them we can’t go any further. The third one is a picture of Halloween which represents an event celebrated every year for the human being. And the last one a group of singers in a train station who represents the people. All of these pictures has something special. Are things that we are related every day in our lives and are thing that we use and see always.
